I was elected to the Board
of Selectmen on May 9, 2000 with a promise on the issues that were before
the Town. I supported the New Elementary School and it is now open.
I promised to stabilize the tax rate by attracting new business and
improve infrastructure. The tax rate is lower than it was when I was
elected to office and new business is relocating to Tyngsboro. The active
land bank that I talked about is now one of the most successful programs
in Tyngsboro, the Community Preservation Fund. Route 3 expansion is
moving ahead of schedule and the work on the Bridge is still actively
moving to the permitting stage.
During my three years on
the Board of Selectmen, there have been many exciting challenges. Sycamore
Networks was scheduled to open a five building campus on Westford Road
but the economic spiral changed their plans. We continued to attract
new business with the opening of Applewood Plaza, Smoky Bones, Carrabbas,
Progress Ave. Industrial Park and others. This Board of Selectmen is
aggressively talking with more businesses that want to relocate to Tyngsboro.
I'm very excited in Tyngsboro's future business growth.
The Matthew's Adult Entertainment
lawsuit received a lot of negative publicity but the townspeople ultimately
prevailed. I'm proud of my leadership role during this period and I
totally supported the court case as mandated by the town residents!
My three-year record has been one of many accomplish ments and I invite
you to visit my proven record page. The Community Preservation Act,
Greene Property Purchase, New Elementary School opening, Chapter 40B
Affordable Housing initiative, Master Plan Update, and a Unified Board
Of Selectmen being named "The
Municipal Board of The Year", are my proudest accomplishments.
I salute Selectmen Lampron, Hackett, Lemoine and Nicosia for supporting
me in making this happen. Tyngsboro has the best Board of Selectmen
of ALL time!
There is much more to do
for Tyngsboro's Future and my work
is not yet done. I respectfully ask for your continued support and
consideration of one of your two votes on Tuesday, May 13, 2003.
Please Re-Elect Kevin V.
O'Connor, Selectman
